My iPhone X screen does not come on.

Force restart iPhone - Apple Support ⬅︎ try this...

1. Press and quickly release the volume up button.
2. Press and quickly release the volume down button.
3. Press and hold the side button.
4. When the Apple logo appears, release the button.

Follow these steps to solve the issue:

1. Step 1 Press and hold the "Sleep/Wake" and the "Home" key for about ten seconds.
2. Step 2 Wait until the Apple logo appears on the screen.
3. Step 3 After the iPhone reboots, it should get rid of the black screen of death.

Other than the screen issue the phone functions normally? ie receiving calls, messages, getting notifications and getting vibration feedback when moving the physical switch on the left side of the phone (haptic feedback has to be enabled for the vibration switch feedback)

Your issue is most probably the logic board of your phone. My advise is to take your phone to an

Apple Authorized service point and have them run some tests. Your screen should be ok but the logic board might need replacement. Take a backup on Itunes software of your phone by connecting it to your computer.
