What is the difference if I buy my phone trough Apple instead of my carrier? I have at&t and want to get a new phone I can get it a better price trough Apple, instead of buying trough carrier but can I still get the phone to be used with my carrier if I didn’t buy it trough them?

Either way will work.
Going through AT&T may be less of a hassle, but it may only work on their network. Ask them about the procedure if you want to switch to another cellular carrier at some point in the future.
