I can't import bookmarks from Safari in Firefox

I've installed Firefox 71.0, just to have another browser next to Safari 13.03. I tried to import my Safari bookmarks in Firefox but with no luck.

First I selected Import from another browser… under the File Menu in Firefox. Safari was selected. I followed through the import wizard -> The following items were successfully imported: Bookmarks -> Done. But the Bookmarks Menu was empty.

Then I tried to import the bookmarks as a HTML-file after first exporting that from Safari. In Firefox I selected Show All Bookmarks under the Bookmarks Menu. Then selected Import Bookmarks from HTML… - opened the Safari bookmarks file, but with the same result. Nothing was imported.

I could not find a solution on the Firefox Support site.

It took me some time but I've solved the problem myself.

First I noticed that apart from the problem with the import of bookmarks in Firefox, I couldn't save any bookmarks at all.

So there was a bigger problem.

When I download and install an app from the App Store or from the developers website I always place it in some special folder inside the Application folder. All my apps are organised in folders. Most apps don't mind where you put them. In the past some Adobe apps objected to it. I had put Firefox inside a Browsers folder inside an Internet folder.

When I put Firefox back into the Application folder everything worked just fine. Now I could import my Safari bookmarks.

I had to reset all my preferences and install some extensions again. My mistake.
