There is no magic Finder setting other than turning on all filename extensions (including applications, etc.) which is very cluttered. Some application save dialogs may add the extension, and others may not. At this point in time, there are three options:
in Finder > Preferences > Advanced
add a check mark to "show all filename extensions"
I use Mac from 1997, Catalina doesn't suggest file extensions when I "save as..."
It's very frustrating work slowly having to add it manually.
I think Apple and Adobe computer scientists have completely lost the sense of "concrete and fast work" in favor of useless "fireworks" for smartphones and social media.
.
I do not post absurd advise, just the options you are faced with in the present Catalina release. No argument on developer's losing track of user productivity requirements. You can install Windows 10 via Boot Camp on your Mac, and then just never boot into macOS if using Windows is your answer to a productivity solution.
Who doesn't work with tight deadlines and speed, I don't think he can understand. Your answer says it all. No controversy, I was just hoping to solve a problem that I find absurd in 2019. And You don't help me. Have a nice day.
maybe finder just don't display them?
I use a free file manager called double commander it display extnsions by default
it is already like that, thanks
I believe that working productively is far from these "absurd rounds"
at this point why spend so much money on a Mac, if it works worse than Windows?
