Facetime contact info shows as numbers and letters

I can not see my contacts details in FaceTime on my Mac if I click on the info icon. I get a generic contact icon with a long string of numbers and letters. I can not work out how to rectify this. If I do the same on my iPad I can see my contacts entire details. Any ideas would be gratefully received.

Hello ginparmorca40.

Welcome to Apple Support Communities.

If I'm understanding correctly, FaceTime contacts on your Mac are displaying incorrectly with a long string of numbers and letters. Being able to have access to contacts is important, and I will be glad to assist.

Let's see if your contacts are displayed properly while in safe mode:

Use safe mode to isolate issues with your Mac

If the issue persists while in safe mode then try testing in another user account:

Let us know how it goes.

Cheers.
