I should have mentioned that a third party app is need to access the

RAW capabilities in iOS. My iPhone 8 says what you saw in the tech specs

but I use RAW all the time using the Pro Shot app. The Adobe Lightroom

app also supports shooting RAW.


iOS has supported RAW for several versions of iOS now.


So yes, "out of the box" it is not supported.
