I changed my number and my old number is still somehow activated to FaceTime and iMessage

I changed my number and my old number is still somehow activated to FaceTime and iMessage so when I use those features, my email comes up instead of the new number. But new number works for incoming or outgoing calls. Anyone know how to fix this?

Turn iMessage and FaceTime off, then deregister the old number: https://support.apple.com/HT203042

After it's deregistered turn iMessage and FaceTime back on. They'll activate using the new number on the phone.

Until then you can keep using your Apple ID to iMessage and FaceTime, as on the back end it makes no difference if someone is calling your Apple ID or your number, it still goes to you.
