I have an iPhone 6s that is still in great physical condition. However, the battery life is terrible and I have to charge it 3 times a day, and that is with minimal use. I also keep experiencing unexpected shut downs. I am just trying to decide if it is worth just replacing the battery or upgrading to a newer phone??

The replacement battery will be to the same specs as your original battery. So in terms of getting back your original battery capacity, yes, it should restore it to the state (in terms of charge capacity) it was when new.
But your iPhone 6s is still going to be a 6s in terms of capability and performance. It will just be a 6s with a full capacity battery again. Batteries wear out, and always will. They are the one consumable part of an iPhone.

yes it is worth it and it costs less than a new device. You have to do what is best for your needs.

You're probably asking if your iPhone 6S will act as if it were a new iPhone once it receives a replacement battery.
