Start with:

If your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch won't charge - Apple Support

and/or

If your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch won't turn on or is frozen - Apple Support

If you get no help, its battery could have reached the critical point of its life or have a hardware failure. Have your device inspected at an Apple Store or AASP: Apple – Location Selector

Hello.

Are you sure you are taking the steps right?

First, make sure iTunes is updated to the latest version.

Then,

  1. Hold the Side and Volume Down button together for like 10 seconds or until you feel the vibration
  2. Release the Side button but keep on holding the volume down button.

iPhone's display should remain black and iTunes should show you a pop that it detected an iPhone in a recovery mode.

Tap "Ok" and select "Restore".
