Disk Utility keeps asking for permission to make changes upon launch

Disk Utility keeps asking for permission whenever I open the application. I was fine until I updated to 26.2 on my Mac Studio. It actually asks twice, saying it needs permissions to make changes. The application doesn’t remember me granting previous permissions because it asks every time I launch the application. If I chose Cancel, instead of Allow, Disk Utility seems to work just fine. Can someone one please shed some light, particularly on how to stop it from asking every time. Thanks.

Hey there -

In my experience, I've seen something similar in Tahoe 26. In my case, Disk Utility will ask for user authentication if there is a secondary startup disk connected or mounted on my Mac.

For example, I backup my Mac using both Time Machine and SuperDuper! (SD!). When I have my SD! "Macintosh HD Clone" volume attached and mounted to my iMac, Disk Utility then asks for user authentication.
