New Mac Mini no mouse

How to get a BT mouse to connect to new Mac Mini? I can’t get the keyboard tab or arrows to move into the BT pane. My mouse is listed there but I can’t get into the pane to select it.

Windows, Windows 10

For a third-party Bluetooth mouse, see:

You may need to borrow or buy a USB mouse to use for initial setup if all else fails.

In the special case that the BT mouse in question is an Apple Magic Mouse that has rechargeable batteries, running a cable from the USB-C port or Lightning port on the underside of the mouse, to a USB port on the Mac, should pair the mouse with the Mac, as well as charging it.

(The unfortunate location of the port on the belly of the mouse means you won't be able to use the mouse until the mouse has at least a partial charge, allowing you to detach the cable.)

Command W or Q does nothing. Starting to wonder if the keyboard isn’t compatible. It was listed as a Mac keyboard. I’ll scrounge up a usb mouse.

If Command-Q does nothing, it’s not connected, or not compatible, or not configured to be compatible, or the layout is not being recognized. Or it’s not working. Scrounge a wired keyboard and wired mouse.
