Is apple going to release iOS 26 update to go back to the prior iOS version? I haven’t come across anyone who likes this new version and for goodness sake, put the search bar back on top for all apps.

We are all users on this site.....just like you. No one here would know what Apple might be planning or when they might do something.

What we can tell you though, is that Apple has never supported downgrading the iOS version on the iPhone or iPad.

Maybe if you could tell us what your issue(s) might be, we might be able to help. There are ways to reduce the "glass" effect, for example.

According to Apple:

After a software update is installed for iOS, iPadOS, tvOS, watchOS, and visionOS, it cannot be downgraded to the previous version.

What you can do about this:

Open Settings ➢ Accessibility ➢ Display & Text Size, then toggle Reduce Transparency = on.

Also in Settings ➢ Accessibility ➢ Motion, then toggle Reduce Motion = on.

Also in Settings ➢ Display & Brightness ➢ Liquid Glass ➢ Tinted.

In addition, you can provide ⇢ Product Feedback.

If enough requests are made, your feedback might help with future development, like a toggle in the settings.

Good luck! 👋🏼😉

Unknown. If they are Apple has said nothing about it, so nobody I this user to user forum would know.

And whoever does know, is probably under a heavy NDA, and cannot say.

With that said, you can offer Apple constructive feedback and they may choose to modify iOS in a future release if enough people do.

With that said, if you have issues with the transparent Liquid Glass interface, here's a user tip that may help reduce it.
