Apple Watch won't automatically connect to WiFi

My Apple Watch Series 9 doesn't connect to WiFi on its own, I have to go into the network settings and tap the network to make it connect.

How do I fix this?

Check whether your Apple Watch has the newest update:

Most recent updates provide improvements and bug fixes, etc.

About watchOS 26 Updates - Apple Support says WatchOS 26.02 is the latest update

If you choose to update the WatchOS: Reminder: It is wise to back-up the Watch data before updating.
