Print + ColorSync system completely trashed, can't let printer manage colors, can't set printer presets, etc?
The last few OS updates have completely hobbled my business, which relies on printing high quality art prints on my canon pixma pro. I've always printed straight from photoshop, and up until maybe a year ago had no issues with it.
Now, I can't let the printer manage colors, print settings revert back to default the second I click on something else, print presets don't work right.... I've tried so many troubleshooting options with no success. It's like every update they break something else....
Currently Sequoia 15.7.2
M1 Macbook Air
I have special ICC printer colorsync profiles that are from my paper manufacturer that used to work perfectly on my pro-100 printer, as long as I set the color management in Photoshop to be done by the printer. Now, when I set the dialog to printer management it doesn't actually apply. It's like the print system just ignores what I select.
I can't even rely on getting the settings right one and then not touching them again on future prints. Every time I print from the file (even if I haven't closed it since the last print) triggers the native print dialog and I have to set all the settings again manually.
I've also noticed that Print Center doesn't actually reflect the printer's status, showing paused when it's not paused, and not showing me with the printer throws an error (much less the error code).
I tried:
- updating drivers
- updating printer firmware
- restarting everything
- deleted and re-added printer (and lost all my presets)
- tried adding the canon print pro plugin to photoshop and printing through that
- creating printer presets in preview app (doesn't have all the settings photoshop has, so it's always an incomplete preset)
No dice.
Am I missing something here? Or is Apple really that determined to ruin printing?
