Apple ID used on former company MacBook – password forgotten, how to proceed?

About 5 years ago I received a company MacBook. At that time, I created an Apple ID using my private email address and phone number and used it on that company laptop.

Currently, I own a private Mac Studio and I am using the same Apple ID on it. I have already removed the company MacBook from the list of devices associated with my Apple ID.

Unfortunately, I don’t remember the password for the old company MacBook. To fully integrate iCloud and enable proper synchronization, the system still requires that password.

I don’t need any data from that old device or account. I would like to use my Apple ID as a clean, personal account without any legacy connections to the old company laptop.

What is the best way to proceed in this situation?
