Image Capture on Tahoe 26.1 finds my HP Envy Pro 6455 printer, but won't allow document scan

Image Capture on Tahoe 26.1 finds my HP Envy Pro 6455 printer, but it won't allow Image Capture to scan a document. Initially, I got "Failed to open a connection to the device (-21345)". Consequently, I shut down and re-powered the printer, followed by rebooting my iMac (24", M1, 2021).

After rebooting, etc. Image Capture says, "No documents loaded....", even after having place a document onto the printer platen. Once, the "overview" soft button showed but now, there is nothing between the "Hide Details" button and the "scan" button. The scan button is greyed out (ie. unable to select scan).

The actual printer function works w/o issue (black/color, selected pages, all pages).

Lastly, I've had issues like this after previous iOS updates, with this very same printer. Sometimes, it's taken a month or two for Apple to resolve its s/w issue(s).

With the prior iOS, I was able to operate w/o issue.

re: < macOS 26.1 > ....current is macOS 26.2

See if any resolve here—

If it is listed as AirPrint printer, delete the existing printer, and add it again, select AirPrint.

> System Settings> Printers & Scanners

>System Setting> Privacy & Security> Local Network toggle on all related

if expired printer certificate using these steps:

>Systems Settings>Printers & Scanners>> Printer name & select Printer Info>Options and Supplies

Show Printer Web Page;

if necessary make a security exception to continue Under Security> Certificates>Configure

Choose Create a New Self-Signed Certificate

(Edit the validity period if necessary) and click Finish

I updated to 26.2 but this didn't resolve the issue. I then removed/added printer. Again, no resolution.

I then went to the routine for an expired certificate, onto Show Printer Web Page and got the following:

"Continue to your Printer Settings"/ok

"This connection is not private", then pops up. It goes on to say website might be impersonating "hpbce92fad03a7.local" and trying to steal financial information. You should close this page. On this page, there is a "show details" option, along with "close page"...... I closed the page

?

.local (Bonjour/mDNS) is often part of the printer path on Apple systems, identifying it on the local network .

I would proceeded in an effort to resolve your printer/scanner woes.
