New iPad has incredibly slow Wi-Fi affecting video streaming

My new iPad (a16)has an incredibly slow WiFi connection to the point of not being able to watch YouTube videos or streaming services, yet it loads the thumbnails in less than a second. It is only a problem on this device and no others. I have reset the network settings to no avail.

fixed- wasn’t logged into vpn but configuration was still active.

do not know how to delete the post

Though you have resolved this, the usual troubleshooting:


  • Does this happen on one Wi-Fi network, or all Wi-Fi networks? Try another network.


  • Any add-on VPN apps, add-on cleaner apps, or add-on security apps installed? If so, remove all, restart, and test again.


As for your having found the issue in your case, add-on VPNs are too often problematic, and sketchy. At best.
