Explicit Apple Music content on kids device, despite parental control settings

Parental controls for Apple Music don’t seem to have any effect. I’ve set my 5 year old up with an Apple Music subscription, but she’s being recommended (and is able to play) explicit songs and music videos. Unless I’m missing something , this is both frustrating and disingenuous.

This issue required a support call with Apple to fix. It turned out that there was a conflict between the settings in my family sharing account and on the kids iPad. And the default behavior from this mismatch was to leave all content restrictions off!

The support agent walked me through resetting the iPad, and after that was done settings applied through family sharing worked. The support agent advised me to set parental controls only through family sharing settings on my personal device, and never through the settings on the kids iPad.

I’m glad this was fixable, but it’s a super annoying bug!
