No AirPods are waterproof.

The 1st generation AirPods are not waterproof. They have no IP rating and should be protected from accidental exposure to water.
Later versions can be taken down in water to 1 meter (AirPods Pro 3).
Do your's work after cleaning? If they do you probably dodged a bullet.
