Thank goodness I got response notifications via email... Which were really helpful, by the way. Thank you to those who answered.

Maybe another user posted it as a duplicate based on your previous post here:

Can Time Machine back up an external driv… - Apple Community

Users with a high enough level are able to mark a post as a duplicate for a human moderator to review and may have believed it was the same. They may have been wrong and humans do make mistakes. Not sure why you think AI is involved. The email notifications you receive when a post is removed is a standard form email not actually typed by a human, but that has little to do with AI.

Oops. Apologies for the over-reaction, and thank you for that information about some being able to mark a post for review. I was still a bit freaked out about when you make a post, and the site reviews it and writes your subject line for you. I guess I just thought it was AI-related because it was taken down so quickly. AI seems so prolific lately, and in my experience, it's often misguided. But really, it's no different than Grammarly reviewing your writing.

If you hang around here long enough, you'll get posts removed. It has certainly happened to me. Sometimes, I can see the point. Other times, I'm very unhappy with the decision. I rarely contest them because, well, Apple's playground, Apple's rules. In the grand scheme of things, it doesn't matter that much, in my opinion.

On the one hand, I appreciate that, because when someone posts "Problems" as their subject line, one could use a little more specificity. On the other hand, I prefer to do my own writing. The post that was removed was about how to format my backup disk (volumes vs. partitions), not about whether TM could do it. I felt the subject line that it wrote was appropriate. I mentioned Carbon Copy Cloner in both posts... maybe that was it. Anyway, thanks.

Actually, if the title of your post got edited, that was also done by actual people. I find myself disagreeing with their choices quite a bit.

I've been on these forums for years... Actual Real People do the title editing? How do you get a job like that??

Apple has a team of folks who keep the communities running. I really hope Apple pays them a lot, as it must be a very difficult job.

I will definitely be paying more attention now. Also, I forwarded the email with the post in it to the communities people to ask why it was deleted. We'll see what they say, assuming I get a response. As for the TOU, I do my best to be kind, respectful, on-topic, and not ramble on too much (current post notwithstanding)... Also, sometimes you have to ask a question a different way to get an answer you can use.

I don't recall the last time I contested a moderation, so I can't tell you what happened. Also note that discussions of moderation are technically a violation of the TOU. They allow a little leeway as long as people are, like you, polite about it. But, don't be upset or surprised if this thread goes "poof."

It sounds like you understand how to be a good community member. Be kind, be polite. Just keep doing that. You'll be fine.

Thank you, Brian! How long has it taken you to get to 60,000 points?! I've been here for years. Although I learn a lot, I'm usually the one looking for answers, not providing them. Been using Macs since the last century, LOL! Started my career using an SE with a black and white screen and 3-1/2 inch floppy disks for storage. Look at us now! It's a lot more complex.
