Apple News won’t open despite correct region

I’ve just set up a new IPad (on iOS 26.1) and copied everything across from my old one. Everything works fine until I try to open Apple News. Then I get the ‘unsupported in your region’ error. I have checked that I have UK selected in the profile, account and device settings but all to no avail. Please can anyone suggest anything else?
