AirPods Gen 3 not connecting to new Iphone 17

My Air Pod Gen 3s are no connecting to a new Iphone 17.

I recently purchased a new Iphone 17 Pro Max, and my Air Pods will not connect to the phone. They will also not connect to my wife's new Iphone 17 either. However, they have no trouble connecting to my laptop or an older phone.

I have tried a factory reset, forgetting device, uninstalling VPN and reseting network settings. All of which to no avail

Has anyone had any luck fixing this?
