Sync Apple Mail Smart Folders from MacBook to iPad

I use Apple mail on my MacBook Pro (up to date for system and application software) and also on my iPad (also up to date).

Is there a way to make the iPad version of Apple mail copy the folder structure from the MacBook Pro? I have a lot of smart folders on the laptop that don't show up on the iPad, and if possible I'd like to fix that.

Any suggestions much appreciated. Thank you.

Your email does not use iCloud except iCloud emails. If you create a folder on Mail on a Mac it should mirror it on a iPad eventually if the IMAP server is working correctly. I don't know about Smart folders create in Mail on a Mac or iPad. My feeling is that they probably won't.
