Cannot delete Apple Calendar app from Mac mini

This is a 2023 Mac Mini running Tahoe 26.1.

I downloaded Apple Calendar Version 16.0 (3036.1.8). I don't like it and can't delete it. I've tried everything, including searching for .cal files in the Library and in Cache. There aren't any. It won't drag to Trash and there's no Trash option with a right click.

Since it's an Apple Calendar, I'm not very concerned about malware or similar, but I don't like having apps I don't like.

Can anybody suggest how to get rid of this calendar?

The Calendar app cannot be deleted from the Mac.

It is part of the macOS package that runs the computer, and as such is a protected asset.

One cannot delete the built-in Apple apps.

You can remove it from the Dock, if you like, otherwise you'll have to ignore it.

Most apps included with macOS live on the “sealed system volume” - and cannot be removed. (Removing them would be interpreted as tampering by malware, and your Mac would refuse to start up.)

The really large apps (Pages, Numbers, Keynote, iMovie, and GarageBand) are exceptions to this, and can be downloaded from the App Store.
