No audio in recorded FaceTime session on iPad

Audio in FaceTime session recording: Attempted to record a FaceTime session using video capture on iPad Pro M4 (OS 26.1) connected on WiFi to iPhone 12 working as hotspot. Mirroring session on LG monitor via HDMI cable from USB-C hub plugged into iPad Pro. Test 12 seconds of video capture and confirm video including audio. Make FaceTime call (via cellular network) and, soon as connected, activate video capture on iPad by touching button (3, 2, 1, video capture). FaceTime session works well: video clear and smooth on iPad and monitor; audio clear through external speaker connected to LG monitor. At end of 33 minute FaceTime session, review video in Photos and there is no audio. Check test video and audio is present. What should I have done differently? (Thanks to my wife we have about 5 critical minutes of the session because she used her iPhone to record the LG monitor and iPad displays. Any suggestions for grafting the audio from those 5 minutes to the appropriate location in the 33 minute video?)

When recording a FaceTime call, iPadOS will not record audio if the call audio is routed to an external device such as an HDMI monitor or speaker. That’s why your 33-minute recording has no audio. To record FaceTime audio, disconnect HDMI, enable Microphone Audio in the Screen Recorder, and keep output set to the iPad itself. To repair your recording, import it into iMovie or Final Cut and add the audio from your wife’s iPhone clip at the correct timestamp.

Thank you for your explanation. I will import both clips into iMovie and add the audio to the relevant portion of the 33 minute video.
