Have iCalendar default to today's date when starting up

How can I make iCalendar default to today's date on startup? It stores the last date you used but that is useless. I would like to see the current date/day displayed when I click on iCalendar instead of having to click on [Today] when I start it.

Thank you

MacBook Pro 16″, macOS 15.6

I leave my calendar in Month view....

the today's date is always visible unless you do not look at for a month+ I would guess. Close the lid and let the Mac sleep, open the lid and pick up where you left off...

Put the Calendar in Full Screen mode— why are you quitting it to begin with(?)
