Family Sharing: App Store region change not possible with kids’ accounts – any solution?
Hi everyone,
I’m facing an issue with Family Sharing that seems more common than expected, and I’m hoping someone can confirm whether there is a workaround.
When trying to change the App Store region, adult Apple IDs can switch regions without any problems.
However, kids’ accounts in Family Sharing cannot change the region at all.
Apple Support suggested deleting the child Apple IDs and creating them again from scratch.
For most families, this isn’t a workable option because it would require:
- rebuilding every login
- reconfiguring school and app access
- restoring data, purchases, and account settings
- losing years of usage history and digital identity
This essentially means starting over, which defeats the purpose of a stable family account system.
My questions to the community:
- Has anyone found a real solution that does not involve deleting and recreating child accounts?
- Is there any undocumented process Apple may offer to migrate kids’ accounts when moving to another country?
- Is Apple aware of the limitation, and is there any indication that a fix is planned?
Families are increasingly mobile across borders, and it would be incredibly helpful if Apple provided a sustainable way to change regions without disrupting children’s accounts.
Any insights or experiences would be greatly appreciated!
Thanks in advance.
