Negative Effect of recent iphone update

Since the recent iphone update, only the oldest 200 pictures on my phone appear in iphoto on my computer as being on the iphone when I click on "my iphone" in iphoto on my g5mac. No recent pictures appear in iphoto on the computer from my phone. I have a lot on my iphone but they do not appear as being on my iphone in iphoto on my computer. I even sent myself a recent picture through email from my iphone and imported it from the email to iphoto on the computer but I cannot find it. What have they done and when will the patch to fix it come out??

Are you, in fact, still running iPhoto on your Mac-- that application was discontinued 10 years ago. Or to you mean the Photos app that replaced it? You don't say what OS you have on your g5mac. Where are you looking on your Mac--in the Library view, albums, Recently Saved, Recently Delete-- or where? How is that view sorted? Do you have filters turned on. How many pictures does the iPhone say it has? How many does Mac Photos say?

Are you using iCloud Photos? Do you use Optimize Storage? If you're using iCloud, what do you see at Photos at iCloud.com?

Do you use Time Machine to back up your Mac, or something else?
