What is this blue border around my watch face? It shows on any light colored screen. Doesn’t show on faces with a black background

My old Apple Watch 5 has to get the battery replaced soon for the second time, Battery Health is at 80%.
Since it is still covered by Apple Care+, Apple will do that for no additional costs.

Has the battery ever been replaced? If not, an expanding battery can cause such an issue.
My old iPad 3G had a similar display just before the battery went dead.
