How to recover data from an old locked macbook?

Hello,

I have an old macbook dated from 2010. Recently, the keyboard stopped working and my laptop is locked. I would like to recover my files. I saw that we can connect the hard drive to another macbook but I dont have it. Does it exist a way of copying the datas to another device?

MacBook Pro 15″, macOS 10.15

Not without a working Mac, no, but the 2010 model MacBooks use conventional SATA hard disk drives. You can remove it, and then install it in an inexpensive external USB enclosure. Connect it to a working Mac, even a recent one, and you may be able to copy its files.

It is not clear to me what you mean by "locked". If you encrypted that disk with FileVault then you will need its FileVault password to mount the disk.

If the problem is strictly limited to an inoperative keyboard, you can try an inexpensive USB keyboard. However, failures strictly limited to the keyboard are rare. It's likely other problems exist.
