What is the purpose of Siri beyond being a light switch?
What is Apple's goal with Siri? Is Apple just trying to recreate "Butler in a Box" from 1983?
Don't get me wrong, it's nice that I can turn the lights on and off in my apartment.
But trying to figure out why Apple would simultaneously design a product that is helpful in one sense while being completely illogical in another sense is headache inducing.
Here's a recent interaction that I've had with Siri, and I've had a lot of interactions with Siri that ended up similar to this:
Hey siri, play "say you, say me" by Lionel Richie.
"Okay, now playing 'Say you, Say me' by Lionel Richie featuring Jason Aldeen"
Siri proceed to play some country twangy garbage that is nothing like I requested.
Hey Siri, stop.
Hey Siri, play Lionel Richie, "Say you, Say Me".
"Okay, now playing All Night Long by Lionel Richie."
Hey Siri, stop.
Shrugs and gives up
Is this a ploy by Apple to try to push music that I have absolutely no interest in?
Is Apple hoping that by blessing my ears with the screechings of Jason Aldeen that I'm going to go out and buy his entire catalogue?
Is there some hidden settings that I can use to disable Siri disobeying my requests and deciding what I actually want to hear?
