iPad Air 5 bright patch on screen

I own iPad Air 5th gen purcahased in July 2023. It developed bright cloud like patches on middle of screen all of a sudden and the possible cause is screen delamination. The service centre refuse to accept that , it is a manufacturing defect and refusing repair. instead they suggest to purchase a new product. Does the life of iPad Air is only 1.5 years

Any electronic device, regardless of manufacturer, can suffer a failure out-of-warranty. Most users experience many years of trouble-free use from their iPad.

The appearance of bright patches are often attributable to partial delamination of the screen backlight diffuser, some models (such as the iPad Pro 10.5 and closely related third generation iPad Air) being more susceptible to this problem than others. All conventional laminated LCD displays can suffer this type of issue.

Faults or defects discovered within the warranty period are usually resolved by Apple without quibble. If you have benefit of an active AppleCare+ plan, again the problem will usually be addressed by way of a replacement/exchange device; being an insurance product, there will be small excess/deductible fee to pay. Outside of warranty and AppleCare plans, repairs are chargeable at Apple's standard terms and costs:

In many countries, the Apple’s limited warranty is one year. However, you should also note that in addition to the manufacturer’s warranty, in many countries you will also have statutory rights with the retailer - which may exceed those of the limited warranty offered by the manufacturer. For example, with member states of the European Union, the manufacturers warranty is extended to at least two years; within the United Kingdom, defects may be covered for up to six years from date of purchase.

In summary, Apple’s limited warranty is only part of the equation. In general, your first port-of-call should be with your retailer - which may not necessarily be Apple.

Thank you for the response. I contacted retailer. They guided me back to apple service centre. They acknowledged, it’s partial delamination of screen. They said, there is no option of screen replacement for iPad Air in India. Instead, the only option is to go for a new purchase by paying full price and discard the product which I purchased just 2.5 years ago. It summary, an iPad in India goes vintage just after 1 year of purchase except for updates. It’s absurd. Indian customers should be made aware of this. We are not purchasing an apple product for 2 years.

For practical purposes, in lieu of repairing and returning your own iPad, Apple usually exchange the iPad for a renewed/refurbished iPad of the same model and specification. The cost of the exchange is the same as would otherwise be charged for repair. Unless you have benefit of an active AppleCare plan, an out-of-warranty repair while expensive will be somewhat less than the cost of a replacement iPad.

As for out-of-warranty repair costs, Apple offers a fixed-price price repair. You can verify eligibility and cost for your region/country here:

When using an independent repairer, usually due to lack of official in-country support by Apple, your available options can be very limited.
