AirPlay audio from iPhone to Mac launches QuickTime Player

Something changed recently after updating, and AirPlay audio from my iPhone to my desktop Mac no longer behaves normally.

I’m on iOS 16.1 on my iPhone and macOS Sequoia 15.7.1 on a Mac mini M4 Pro.

My issue:

When I AirPlay audio from the SiriusXM app on my iPhone to my Mac, my Mac suddenly launches QuickTime Player in full-screen mode with a blank video window. Audio does play through the Mac, but as soon as I minimize or close the QuickTime window, the AirPlay connection drops.

Previously this was a seamless, audio-only AirPlay connection without QuickTime ever launching.

Has anyone else experienced this behavior or found a fix/workaround?
