Calendar alerts fail on Mac due to CloudKit throttling

I am on Tahoe, macbook pro

Calendar has been unreliable for the last 2 years. What I have noticed is when my alerts stop working, and i run this command

log show --last 20m --predicate 'process == "remindd"'

there are many messages about throttling and cloudkit sync. When the calendar is working, there are none of these messages

I don't use icloud, and I don't want anything synced. I just want a local calendar on my mac. Any ideas on why when i don't use icloud it is still trying CloudKit sync

The remindd process is choking because it thinks it has data to upload. The quickest fix is (Uncheck "Reminders" inside the Calendar app sidebar). This stops the Calendar app from caring about the broken background process.

Thank you for taking the time to answer my question. i have "scheduled reminders" in my sidebar, I assume that is what you are talking about. I have unticked it, crossing figures this solves it. Will report back

Hi did not work, i am still getting

remindd: [com.apple.reminderkit:utility] Throttler denied operation {identifier: CloudKit Sync, op: SyncInterface(AppDelegate), remainingTimeInterval: 17.7239, throttleResetDate: 2025-12-06 12:45:47 +0000}

and a calendar that fails whenever i get this message. I have signed back into my apple account, unticked everything i can from syncing (I do not use cloud, now or ever in the past) and yet calendar still fails with this message.

Let me know if you have any other ideas
