All recent generation Intel MBPs I've had do exhibit a hot running condition: 13" 2018 MBP, 15" 2018 MBP, 16" 2019 MBP, regardless of the MacOS version. Local service shop offers a "maintenance" gig, where they pop the bottom and remove accumulated dust, especially on the fans, has helped somewhat. Have always run them on some sort of cooling pad, passive or active, that helps a lot more.

Besides all the excellent suggestions above.

Is/are the fan(s) running and the vents on the bottom clear for maximum air flow..?

How many native macOS and third-party App's are open and running on your MacBook Pro..?

Have you installed any third-party Anti Virus, Protecting, Cleaning software or a VPN on your MacBook Pro..?

To see what what App's open and running, plus look for issues with third party App's.

Download and run the free version of EtreCheckPro, from > https://etrecheck.com/en/index.html

Then post back here with your Report, as per > How to use the Add Text Feature When Post… - Apple Community
