Apple Music problems playing my library on Tahoe 26.1
Hi - I'm not sure how unique my use case is but I'm having a lot of problems using Apple Music since upgrading my devices to Tahoe and iOS26. Probably more on Tahoe so I'll outline what's happening to me.
Device: Apple MacBook Pro M1 Max 64Gb RAM, running Tahoe 26.1
I use the Apple Remote app (the one you download from the App Store and not the inbuilt remote used for AppleTVs). This allows me to manage my Apple Music library on my MacBook Pro. I use my MBP as my music streamer because it has given me maximum flexibility and minimum interruptions when I play music across my house. Before upgrading to Tahoe, this worked "relatively" well. There were a few glitches such as where music would pause if I activated extra Airplay speakers in my house, but I worked out how to live with them.
I waited until 26.1 before taking the plunge. Now the way I want to play my music is mostly unusable. The problems now present include:
- Apple Music on my MBP throwing up error and/or warning messages. These can be triggered using Apple Remote from my iPhone. When they occur, the remote app is inoperable as it can't interact with the messages. Any action from there needs me to work off the MBP directly
- Playlist currently playing crashes if I try to connect to other Airplay speakers. When I return to what's currently playing, the playlist is empty. This happens every time
- Volume control does not work reliably
- New bug even though I've not had a new version of Tahoe installed. I can no longer choose multiple Airplay speakers
It seems to me that Apple are trying to be more verbose with messages and if that's the way forward then this will force me to find another way to enjoy my music. The most stable approach I've ever found to use Apple Music and my music library is iTunes on a Windows computer. I had expected that going all in with Apple's ecosystem would have delivered a seamless experience. Currently it is anything but. Please fix it.
