iPad Pro, Pencil Pro, and Issues in the Freeform App

I’m using an iPad Pro with Apple Pencil Pro.

The software is the latest updated.


However, on the Freeform app, the Apple Pencil seems very jittery, sometimes missing bits when drawing, and even cutting out.

Palm Rejection does not seem to be working either; as I place my hand on the screen with Freeform open, the screen jumps, zooms in or out, or selects an option that I hadn’t chosen.


In Settings, Zoom is not enabled.


No such issue in Apple Notes and Goodnotes.


I’ve rebooted many times but the issue remains.


Is anyone else have this issue?

Is there a solution for it?

If you are experiencing difficulties with just the Freeform App, this would suggest that your iPad's hardware is operating correctly. Ensure that you have updated your iPad and Freeform App to the most recent versions. At the time of writing iPadOS 18.7.2 and iPadOS 26.1 are current.


If updating iPadOS and the Freeform App does not resolve the problem, you might be best advised to seek assistance directly from Apple Support. You can contact the Support Team using the Support link at top-right or bottom-left of this page.


Alternatively, you can initiate and manage your support cases from Apple devices using the excellent Apple Support App. If not already installed, the App can be downloaded from the App Store:
