Playback not working on AirPods Pro

Hi, I’ve noticed that the playback (resuming music with a single click after pausing the same way) doesn’t work on my AirPods Pro 3. I tested it with different apps, did a factory reset of the AirPods but the issue still persists.

How do I fix this?

I have iPhone 14 Pro with iOS 26.1.

Following up on this, I called Apple Support and after some troubleshooting they confirmed this is a bug in the Automatic Device Switching feature in iOS 26. The "resume click" is being interpreted as a device switch command rather than resume playback. The workaround for now is to go into Setttings->Bluetooth on the affected device (in my case, the iPhone), tap the blue "i" circle info button for the Airpods, and change "Connect to This iPhone" from "Automatically" to "When Last Connected to This iPhone". This solved the pause/resume playback issue for me.

A proper fix is supposed to be forthcoming in a future iOS update.
