Apple TV making me log in every time i use it

Every time I got to Apple TV, I get the screen requiring me to fish out my phone and log in. I get signed in, all is well, and then the next time I use the app it does it again.

This started in the last two weeks, but already it’s so irritating that I’ve pretty much stopped watching Apple TV. The TV is a Hisense, and both the TV and the app are updated to the latest available versions. Other apps are functioning as normal.

I checked for previous threads on this topic and it seems to keep coming up, but doesn’t seem to get an effective solution.

Sign in with your TV provider on your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch - Apple Support

Eg: says:

Sign in with your TV provider:

You can sign in with your TV provider in Settings or when you use a supported app for the first time.

After you've signed in, any other supported app will automatically sign you in so you don't need to enter

your information again.

If your TV provider has its own app, your device may automatically download it after you've signed in.

Sign in from your iPhone, iPad or iPod touch

You can sign in with only one TV provider at a time. Here's how:

  1. Make sure that you have the latest version of iOS or iPadOS.
  2. Go to the Settings app, then tap TV Provider.
  3. Select your TV provider* from the list.

You can also scroll down to choose a TV provider from a different country or region.

4 Enter your TV provider account information. If you're not sure, contact your TV provider.

5 After you've entered your TV provider account information, tap Sign In".

________

Also says:

"*If your TV provider supports signing in with your TV provider account information, then you'll be prompted to enter your user name and password for your TV provider.

If your TV provider doesn't support signing in with your TV provider account information, your TV provider will be saved so you don't have to select it again, but you'll still need to sign in to each app with your TV provider account information."
