Subject: No action taken on reported Telegram channel with adult content for 22 days (Case ID: 1*******4)

Question:

I have been reporting a Telegram channel containing adult content through https://reportaproblem.apple.com for the past 22 days. I have also emailed AppReview@apple.com multiple times and received a Case ID: 1******4, but have not received any further response or seen any action taken.

Could someone please advise what steps I can take if Apple does not act on such reports regarding content violating App Store guidelines? Is there any follow-up system in place to ensure timely action on user reports?

What else can be done to ensure this Telegram channel or associated app is properly reviewed and actioned against?

Any guidance or solutions would be greatly appreciated.

Apple does not moderate in-app content. Expecting Apple to take action is akin to Apple removing Safari or Chrome from the App Store because there are web sites out there with unsavory content.

App Store complaints (via reportaproblem) are only valid for application-level issues, such as when the app is violating Apple's terms of service (payment, privacy, malicious content, etc.).

In the case of Telegram, it's used by millions of people, spanning hundreds of thousands of channels. In that cornucopia, there's bound to be a couple of rotten eggs, but that doesn't mean the whole app is ******.

In this case, the appropriate channel is Telegram itself. For the chat/channel that you think is abusive, use the '... more' menu icon on the user/channel, and choose the Report option:

This will go to Telegram support, who will review the complaint against their terms of service.

You need to contact Telegram to report a channel.

As for the submission guidelines for App Review, you probably see that Telegram has an age rating of 17+, so you can review the type of content that is allowed. Notice where it says Frequent or intense sexual content or nudity. For any illegal content, you should be contacting the police or the government agency responsible for investigating internet crimes.

Apple also gives you additional options where you can block the app from your device or also lower the age rating of apps that are allowed to be downloaded.

Apps with this rating may contain instances of the following content that may not be suitable for children under the age of 17:

  • Unrestricted web access, such as with an embedded browser
  • Gambling
  • Frequent or intense simulated gambling
  • Frequent or intense mature or suggestive content
  • Frequent or intense medical or treatment-focused content
  • Frequent or intense references to alcohol, tobacco, or drug use
  • Frequent or intense sexual content or nudity
  • Frequent or intense realistic violence

Use escalation channels: App Store Complaints form, Platform Integrity email, and Developer Violation form.

Did you just make these up or do you actually have a link that would be the obvious thing to do when attempting to provide assistance. The OP already said they used the reportaproblem website which is where you would file an App Store complain. I do understand this is not likely when simply relying on AI responses, and I also don't expect you will respond here, but users should be aware that AI does sometimes just make things up and spreading the information as factual is an inherent problem.
