Unable to unname a group text after deleting

Is there a way to unname a [named] group text when the text thread was deleted?

I was included in a group text thread created by someone in my neighborhood. Because I do not know these people [yet], I gave the group text a name: "Neighborhood Ladies," thinking I was naming it for my own reference. I get a lot of text messages in general, and I like to keep the number of active messages to a minimum. After a number of text messages back and forth among members, I deleted the text thread from my Messages app. Now, the woman who added me to the group cannot rename the group, nor add/delete members; and, I no longer have it available to "unname."

I believe one or more text group members may have an Android phone.
