How to resolve 'waiting for printer to become available' error after upgrading MacMini to 15.7.2?

Upgraded to my MacMini (Intel CPU 6-core i5, purchased 2020) to 15.7.2 today and now when I try to print to my HP OfficeJet Pro 8600 the print center is reporting 'waiting for printer to become available'. I have rebooted the printer multiple times. I have from the Printers and Scanners reset the printer system and added the printer back in. The driver reported is 4.7.0 Continues to report "waiting for printer to become available". I saw a driver 5.1.0 but that is for OS 15.0.0 and earlier. Has support ended for this printer with MacOS? If so is there a generic driver that can support the print / scan functions?

Issue resolved. I finally was able to successfully change to the Generic PCL driver which worked, only after I unplugged the printer for and held down the power button (HP website suggestion), reseting the printer system on the MacMini, multiple reboots of the MacMini (Parallels update). Adding back the printer with the Generic driver. Image capture tested and working too. Thanks to all who provided suggestions

From what I have read

This specific Printer / Scanner is AirPrint compatible

Meaning there are No Third Party Drivers or Software required

About AirPrint

Connect an AirPrint printer to a Wi-Fi network

For scanning you can use " Image Capture "

Using an older Epson ET 2750 for some time now

Used on macOS 11 Big Sur to and including macOS 26 Tahoe

Never installed any Epson Drives for printing or scanning

" You may need to first perform a product update for the airprint features to be implemented. The easiest way to do this is to enable the Web Services on the printer.

To do this press the Web Services icon on the front panel of the printer (looks like a piece of paper with circles behind it). Just follow the onscreen instructions to enable Web Services and once it has been enabled it should check for a product update and download and install it for you if one is available.

You may also try power cycling the printer. While the printer is still on, unplug the power cord from the printer, leave it unplugged for 30 seconds, then reconnect the power cord to the printer. Once plugged back in the printer should power on automatically "

Hmmm, I searched on the Airport print page you linked. Using any combination of Office Jet Pro 8600, it did not come up in the list of supported printers. The HP support page also is not listing any drivers for MacOS for this device - grrrrr.

Does the HP website for this specific Printer / Scanner List it as AirPrint capable

The listing from Apple is NOT ALL Inclusive
