Watch notifs not showing image for messages

Since yesterday afternoon, any time my watch buzzes and I get a text notification, it'll try go to where it usually shows a preview or the messages icon but nothing shows up? just a blank background. Then I click on it and it takes me to the message just fine. Not sure how to fix this
