iPhone 17 Pro not syncing iCloud data, Passwords, and Face ID for Notes

Hello my iPhone 17 pro hasn’t synched my cloud , apps, passwords, email accounts , even facial recognition for notes isn’t working ! I need to punch in the password to view my notes ? Whys this glitch , didn’t happen in the past.

Some observations I can gather:

  • Apps are not stored in iCloud, so they will not sync, only data would sync if the developer of the App gives it that option and you have also given permission to sync the data to iCloud.. They can be redownloaded from the App Store.
  • Only your @iCloud.com emails would be stored in iCloud. Third party email providers store emails on their own server.
  • For the Notes issue, let us know if you have the Face ID option checked in the Settings for the Notes app. Without that turned on, only the Passcode would be used. Is is not asking for Face ID or just not recognizing your face?
  • Did this start after setting up the iPhone and restoring data from a previous one?

ok ,

  • OS is 26.1 , phone is about a month old. my icloud account is synced with all other devices and only this phone is an issue.
  • Airdrop and play doesnt work even with devices listed under my account.
  • Third party Emails are configured , iphone doesnt pulll down the mails
  • Some Notes recognizes face, others ask for passcode
  • yes i had to login to my icloud account and the first DL didnt happen at Apple store since the net was slow , it got interrupted and resumed back at home, but why should that disrupt ?

  • Test by changing the Setting on the Receiving device at Settings > General > AirDrop to Everyone for 10 Minutes. Does that make a difference?


Third party emails are configured, iPhone doesn't pull down the mails
  • Who is the email provider?
  • When you set up your new phone, did you restore from a backup or transfer data from another device?
  • Some email providers use Authentication where the device will first need to be authenticated with them before you will receive email. Gmail is one provider where you need authenticate the new device.
  • Do you see an error message on the bottom of the email app where you should be seeing your emails?

Some Notes recognizes face, others ask for passcode

There is a separate Face ID Setting for Notes that are stored in iCloud and also on your device. Go to Settings > Apps > Notes > Password. Do you have Face ID turned on for all accounts listed there.

Not sure I understand. When setting up the phone from a backup or transferring for another device, only a link of the apps are transferred and the actual App is downloaded from the App Store after setup when you have a stable internet connection.
