Unable to set up end-to-end encryption on new iPhone (locked behind old Macbook's forgotten password)

Hi,

I used to own a Macbook Air couple of years ago, however it is no longer in my possession and i no longer remember the password of that device.

Recently purchased a new iPhone. (17 Pro Max)

> Trying to get some features activated like 'iCloud Passwords & Keychain' or 'Stolen device protection' gives me the following message :

Your apple account settings need to be updated so this iphone can use end-to-end encryption.

> Prompts me for iPhone PIN, and after entering it, i get the following message :

Enter Macbook Air Password

The password that unlocks "<Old_MacbookAir_Hostname>" also gives you access to your protected iCloud data on this iPhone.

> The only option i have beside typing the password (which i don't know) is the following :

Don't know device password ?

If you can't remember the password that unlocks "<Old_MacbookAir_Hostname>", you won't be able to acces your iCloud data.

Try again Later

Not much i can do from there, it seems that my end-to-end encryption data is locked behind my old laptop's password which is blocking me right now to properly configure my new iPhone ...

I tried logging into the iCloud Web portal and removed my old Macbook from the list of devices, but the problem persists.

Could you please indicate to me how to solve this ?

Kind regards,

iPhone 17
