New Outlook - how to identify

I need to clarify if I am using the "New Outlook" for Mac from Microsoft

Recently I red that the Austrian Army gave up to Microsoft Office because of privacy concerns. The most controversial one is the "New Outlook" which connects to the Microsoft Servers instead of directly to the email servers.

In my case my email is an @icloud email but I am using Outlook from the Microsoft Office 2024 for Home & Business package.

Is this version using the "New Outlook" which has privacy concerns?

The "New Outlook" is not a traditional email client. It is a web app that syncs a copy of your mail, calendar, contacts, and even your account credentials (passwords or access tokens) from all your accounts (including Gmail, Yahoo, etc.) to Microsoft's cloud servers.

This is the information you probably don't know.

Anyway, my research shows that probably at this time (November 2025) it is impossible to revert back to the Classic Outlook and even if it would be easy it would be only a temporary solution as it would stop working October 2026

So, I guess I have to switch to using Mail.

My email is an iCloud address, but I am using Outlook because I got used to it, also I can schedule calls and add them to the Calendar very easily. Outlook is much more complex than Mail and it has more features. But if privacy becomes an issue, of course, I will revert to Mail. I am asking the Apple community cause I trust it more than the Microsoft one. I am pretty sure there are other Outlook users here too.
