Passwords popup randomly pops

I am actively outraged.

This popup keeps on spawning whatever i'm doing. I tried killing many services but it still ends up showing.

If I reboot, it goes away, yes right. But who has time to reboot ?

It started showing up after I used the password manager to autofill a field, I guess.

What can I do to know the exact reason why it showed up ? Are there event logs somewhere ?

It can also spawn when i'm writing or watching a video, I must click on it and click elsewhere to get rid of it.

I am on M2 Max 15.6.1 (24G90)

Thanks.

Use the Passwords app to create, manage, and share passwords and passkeys across Apple devices

Turn on Password AutoFill

With Password AutoFill, your Apple device automatically enters the passwords or passkeys that you save in Passwords. That way, you can use unique, complex passwords for all of your accounts — without having to memorize them.

To turn on Password AutoFill, go to Settings (or System Settings on Mac) > General > AutoFill & Passwords, then turn on AutoFill Passwords and Passkeys.

On Mac, you can use AutoFill on supported third-party browsers by enabling an extension. You can find these extensions on your browser's web store.

Autofill your user name and password in Safari on Mac

On my M4 Mac Mini , M4 MBA and M2 Mac Mini each with macOS 26.1 Tahoe

I never get the Password Pop Up ever once I have enabled the AutoFill option

Yeah.

There's nothing about popping up the password overlay in the Password's app settings.

Well, if I had event logs or something I could have investigated but booting in safe mode and waiting for the bug to happen (if it happens!) is quite boring, I'm not going to do that.

I can indeed update, that is what I'm going to do. But I already had this bug since a very long time. (And i'm not the kind of person to install lots of software or system packages)

I'll make the update and keep you posted if it still happens
