Sent Emails Not Sorting Properly

For years Mac Mail has failed to sort SENT emails properly. If I go in and change the settings, then change them back to Date/Newest EM first, it sorts properly for up to 1 day -- then, reverts back to NOT sorting properly -- what is Apple doing about this ?? (Nothing, apparently)
