My brand new Studio Mac running Sequoia 15.5 frequently slows down when typing, taking minutes to display what I typed, often its wrong too

Regularly, when typing in a browser form, in MS Word, Notes, or other applications like messaging apps, the typing will slow down so much that I have to wait minutes for it to catch up, even for a few letters. If I try to type further, even a few words, the Mac will eventually catch up with mispelled words, out-of-order letters, and missing spaces. It's happening right now. This should have taken a few minutes to write, but it's taken ten minutes so far.

I leave Activity Monitor running on memory pressure, which is just fine (I have 64GB of RAM).

When it starts acting like it's frozen waiting to catch up, Activity Monitor will show Safari as unresponsive or say Safari has stopped, only to come back a few minutes later, but not requiring a restart of the app.

Even if I close most of the apps running on my Mac (that I normally want open), it still keeps happening.

Rebooting only helps for a few minutes, and then it starts slowing down again.

Does anyone have a fix for this? Thanks.

You have fallen behind on software updates.

Update to macOS 15.7.2 > What's new in the updates for macOS Sequoia - Apple Support

and then upgrade to Safari 26.1 > About the security content of Safari 26.1 - Apple Support

Then if the macOS 15.7.2 update and the Safari 26.1 upgrade do not fix your issues.

Download and run the free version of EtreCheckPro, from > https://etrecheck.com/en/index.html

Then post back here with your Report, as per > How to use the Add Text Feature When Post… - Apple Community
