MBAir M4 - Pinch-to-zoom failing

I've had this MBA M4 for a month now, and the only annoying thing of it is that the pinch-to-zoom gesture fails relatively often, such that the pointer doesn't move and nothing happens and I have to repeat the gesture a couple of times before it works, or such that the pointer moves and the gesture is not recognized as initiating a zoom. I've tried restarting it, typing "killall Dock" in Terminal, attentively configuring the trackpad options and turning them off and on again, cleaning the trackpad... Sometimes it seems like some of those things help somewhat, but the problem never really goes away. All other gestures work fine, and there isn't any other issue I have noticed with my MacBook. It's not super bad, but it gets annoying. I was on Sequoia 15.6 and updated to 15.7 today and the problem persists.

Does anyone else experience this? Any ideas on if it's a software problem, rather than a hardware one?
